Akita's are a very
loyal. loving, intelligent, and hard headed breed. They are excellent with
children and animals they are raised with, but also have to be watched.
They are not necessarily acceptant of other children, and children should
learn to have respect for the akita, just like any other dog. They are family
protectors and will protect if need be, but not such aggressiveness should
be put in them. It is very important to socialize your akita, and properly
train him. Akita pets should always be spayed or neutered, not only for
health reasons, but also to keep the male from being so aggressive, and
also hiking his leg. If you are looking to obtain a pet from a reputable
breeder, It will be insisted on, usally by contract, to spay or neuter your
pet! Please be a resposible pet owner and spay and nueter your beloved friend
and help fight the unwanted pets accross the states in shelters. If your
Akita is left alone, make sure he or she is in a safe enviorment where they
can not run at large. Akita's need to be keeped on leash at all times! Akita's
are animal aggressive and will kill smaller animals, because of there prey
drive. They will fight other animals which challange them. IF you are looking
for a porch dog or a backyard dog, Do not get a Akita. If you are looking
for a commitment to spend years with a very special breed, and enjoy making
a dog very much of your life, just like a child, the Akita might be a good
choice for you. If you have Akita knowledge and feel you could give a older
Fur baby a good home, there are many in rescue accross the states. They
vary in age. If you think you would be interested in adopting a Akita in
need please feel free to get in touch with me for more information.
